Join us for a morning at Pallant House Gallery to explore careers in Art, Design, and Media! Students from Years 9-12 can take part in hands-on workshops, finding out about careers from conserving a painting to working in media.
This is a fantastic opportunity for your students particularly interested in a creative career and with a passion for Art & Design. They’ll have the opportunity to hear from industry professionals who will share their unique journeys and insights into the diverse pathways you can take to develop a creative career, rooted in Art & Design. Gallery staff will also deliver a fun PechaKucha presentation, giving students a glimpse into a “Day in the Life” of working in a gallery, from teams including exhibitions, learning, marketing and fundraising.
Plus, Year 12 students will have the chance to take part in 1-2-1 sessions to learn more about specific career avenues in galleries and museums.
This opportunity is available for a limited number of students from Years, 9, 10 and 12. If you would like to book your students onto this event please contact the Pallant House Gallery Learning team learning@pallant.org.uk.
Primary Play Your Part is a project providing newly commissioned playscripts to primary schools to use as their festive show. The brand-new playscripts are written specifically for KS2 primary aged students to perform. Along with a range of supporting online resources and a virtual CPD session, the project aims to guide primary schools through the process of creating their own in-school productions. Please visit our webpage to learn more and to apply by clicking here.
The playscripts are free for all UK state primary schools to access. If you are a private school or a school outside the UK, please contact primary@oldvictheatre.com for more details.
CCWS recently funded two Masterclass CPD’s around the Cat and the Canary production, which ran in the Minerva at Chichester Festival Theatre.
Teachers were given the opportunity to experience the exercises first hand alongside their students, offering them a deeper understanding of the application and outcomes.
In October Creative County West Sussex the Chichester Festival Theatre and Chichester Boys Club came together to offer a weeklong outdoor activity on Iping Common just outside Midhurst.
The project was aimed at connecting young people with outdoor spaces and introducing them to the history and beauty of our local area through storytelling music and play.
On the 19th July the new UK Government announced they were launching a Curriculum and Assessment Review which ‘will look closely at the key challenges to attainment for young people, and the barriers which hold children back from the opportunities and life chances they deserve – in particular those who are socioeconomically disadvantaged, or with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).’ To read the full press release click here.

Workshops about delivering Shakespeare's stories and words to a variety of year groups. How to use drama as a tool across the curriculum

A really helpful and valuable tool for students would be an Arts Passport for Sussex/Surrey: groups, after-school clubs, holiday arts clubs, museums, kid's shows, etc.
We would benefit from a further practical workshop session (Shakespeare) for children or perhaps linking up with other schools you are aware of who have run a full enrichment day or week
If you are considering an apprenticeship or traineeship, here Sally Garner-Gibbons discusses the requirements, benefits and life-long career choices available for young people.
