Continuing Professional Development

Some of our most important work here at CCWS is to share what we know with other professionals. Each year we offer two seasons of CPD for teachers, corporate clients and other individuals or organisations.

So if you are looking to develop some new creative skills, master some of the latest creative techniques, support team building or simply develop confidence with public speaking, our team will be happy to discuss your needs and prepare CPD workshops to suit.

Masterclass Series

This year we introduced a masterclass series, focussed on supporting GCSE/A-Level studies, held predominantly at CFT. These professional development workshops offer teachers the opportunity to work alongside students allowing them to directly observe impact.  We have run a series of these masterclass CPD’s alongside season productions (The House Party, Cat and the Canary, After the Act, Pirates of Penzance, & Driftwood) with more planned for FT25.

‘I really enjoyed the workshop, it was fantastic to meet other practitioners.’

We also trialled an in-school CPD session on ‘Introducing Practical Shakespeare for Primary’ to a full teaching cohort at a primary school in Crawley. This was to enable teachers to develop strategies for making content accessible and interesting for primary age learners and how to link with other aspects of the curriculum.

‘The CPD was great and really inspiring. Lots of colleagues have given thought as to how to include dramatic activities and techniques in their general English lessons, exploring other texts. Others have started to consider if they could plan a specific Shakespeare activity or unit.'
